Birthday Boop press kit

Birthday Boop is a birthday countdown for iPhone and iPad, made by OctoView LLC. It starts with your name and birthday, then brings in your people from Contacts, the calendars you choose or a list pasted from Notes. You review everything before it’s saved, and contacts that still need a birthday wait in Waiting on a birthday, with a one-tap Ask. When two entries look like the same person, Boop asks “Same person?” right in the list and combines them in a tap, with Undo.

Next birthday counts down to whoever is coming up, on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen. Reminders arrive a week before, the day before and on the birthday, at the time you pick, with an extra heads-up two weeks out for your Faves. For the final hours, a Live countdown ticks down to midnight on the iPhone Lock Screen.

On the birthday, “Send Maya a boop” opens a card that’s ready as it is: one picture (their photo, their birthday emoji or the disco ball) on a pastel rainbow glow, with room for a note. Add a photo, a sticker or more words, and move anything around with a finger. It goes out in Messages or anywhere else, and a birthday sticker pack comes along for Messages too. The art is photorealistic: a mirrored disco ball, cakes, cupcakes, piñatas and a tiara.

Birthday quests name their gift up front: add 5 birthdays for the My birthday widget, add a Boop widget for a font, make your first card for a card design and add 10 birthdays for a look, your pick each time. Badges from Party of 25 to Leapling bring bigger picks, and celebrating birthdays in six different months earns a Plus gift: a month of every Plus item, on us. For Spooky Season, October 22 to November 2, trying on the Pumpkin patch look earns a limited badge, and Rainbow Week, November 3 to 17, does the same with the pastel Rainbow look, with or without Plus.

Every birthday, reminder and import is free, along with the calendar, groups, iCloud, backups, Discreet mode, the Next birthday widget, every Lock Screen widget, the Simple card, two disco looks and the stickers. Boop Plus, an optional subscription, adds five more Home Screen widgets, 13 looks including the pastel Rainbow, 3 more fonts, 8 more app icons and cards in any look. Birthdays live on the device, with a private copy in the person’s own iCloud.
